A whole exhibit on poop! What more could a kid ask for?

My dad sent the kids some information about the Cleveland Zoo's summer exhibits!  One is on dinosaurs. How fun is that?  But, wait, just when you think it couldn't possibly get better...

There is also an exhibit about, that's right,

As you can see, we're happy about this.

Drawings of Aunt Karin's Crazy Sea Creature

Aunt Karin recently took a vacation to Florida to visit family and enjoy some warm weather.  While she was in the ocean, she encountered a crazy sea creature that she had never seen before.  It was some sort of slimy, floppy-winged, swimming slug-worm.  Ick!

I told Daniel and Dylan about it and we decided to draw our best guess of what the creature looked like before she sent us a picture of it.  Then we'd see who got the closest to the real deal.

Here are the sketches: 

FYI: As I was drawing this picture at the table with the boys, Dylan leaned over to look at my work in progress.  He asked, "Is that Aunt Karin in the sea?"  I said it was.  He then warned me,

"You better not draw her fat."  

That's it.  No further explanation required.  

You better not draw a fat Aunt Karin.

Haley shows Ranger a fuzzy caterpillar

Haley found a caterpillar and wanted to show it to Ranger who was busy relaxing in the sun...

He sat up when she asked him to look, but he still wasn't very interested...

When I said his name he popped into his "What can I do for you?!?" way of looking at me. (He never did get as excited as Haley, though...)

Bear Sighting at JMU Arboretum? (wink, wink...)

Out of the corner of my eye, I thought this was real for a second! It took me by complete surprise. Some full-time horticulturist/part-time prankster nestled it right behind a bush. Good grief. We visit the arboretum all the time and the biggest change in scenery is a new type of plant in bloom: daffodils, tulips, azaleas, you get the point. Toss in a few mallards, geese and turtles and that's about as lively as you get. Well, I guess a snapping turtle on rare occasion has caused a little commotion. But a BEAR in my peripheral vision??? That definitely made me do a quick double take.

I wonder if the there's a camera hidden in the trees to catch the reaction of unsuspecting visitors... You sure would get a good laugh out of watching people flip out for a second! I can't be the only one, right?
