Bees!

We found this small piece of beeswax in our backyard. The next picture is a much larger chunk of beeswax from the same spot in the yard. Weird, huh?

And when you stand where these chunks fell and look up, you see tons more bees clinging desperately to yet another piece of poorly-built beeswax.  That one is barely attached to a couple of rapidly-drying leaves. And then you realize you probably should move.

Anybody know why the heck this might have happened?
